An MoU between Sudan and China to Enhance Global Development Initiative
On Tuesday, Sudan and China signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of enhancing the implementation of the global development initiative, where the Sudanese side was represented by the Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Mohamed Bashar Mohamed Adam, and the Chinese side by Mr. Yang Weiqun, Vice President of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, at the headquarters of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, in the presence of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Jibril Ibrahim, and the Vice President of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Mr. Yang Weiqun. In the meeting held at the agency’s headquarters, the two parties reviewed the course of historical relations, cooperation, and friendship between the two countries and ways to develop them to broader horizons, in addition to coordination and mutual support in international forums.
The Minister congratulated the Chinese government on its success in organizing the China-Africa Cooperation Forum and thanked it for inviting the Sudanese government to participate in this important forum.
The Minister praised the global development initiative proposed by His Excellency President Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China, on September 21, 2021, at the United Nations General Assembly, and its role in achieving the sustainable development goals and assisting and supporting the economies of developing countries, stressing Sudan’s support for all development initiatives proposed by China.
The meeting also touched on the role of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in creating strategic partnerships in the economic and development fields and advancing the economies of African countries. He also thanked and appreciated the Deputy Chairman of the Agency for the support that China has continued to provide to Sudan in all economic, political, and humanitarian fields, praising China’s supportive positions on Sudan’s issues in international institutions.
For his part, the Deputy Chairman of the Agency stressed the depth of historical relations between Sudan and China and ways to develop them in all fields, especially in terms of supporting Sudan economically and developmentally and China’s readiness to participate in the reconstruction phase of what was destroyed by the war. Mr. Yang Weiqun also stressed China’s support for Sudan in international forums, and to develop partnerships between the two countries in the development field.
