Coordination of Resolution 1591 on Darfur receives UN Security Council team of experts briefs them on RSF militia violations

The National Coordination for Follow-up of Resolution 1591 of 2005 on Darfur states briefed the UN Security Council team of experts on the extent of the violations and assaults committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF)/ (Al-Dagalo) militia against civilians in Darfur and a number of various Sudanese states. This came during the meeting held on Sunday, in the presence of the membership of the National Coordination for Follow-up of the Resolution of Resolution 1591 of 2005 on Darfur affiliated with the Higher Committee for Coordination with the United Nations, headed by the member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (SAF), Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, and the UN Security Council team of experts.
The Head of the National Coordination for Follow-up of Resolution 1591, Major General (Rtd) Ezz-Eddin Osman Taha, explained that the group of experts was briefed on the current situation in the country and Sudan's efforts to achieve peace, renewing Sudan's welcome to the visit of the UN Security Council team of experts, expressing readiness to provide all the facilities required to implement the team's mission in accordance with the relevant mandate. Major General (Rtd) Taha pointed out that this 3-day visit by the team of experts is the first since the outbreak of the war, during which it will meet with a number of national bodies and institutions concerned with the following up on implementation of the resolution.
