Sudan Welcomes U.S. President’s Announcement to Suspend Military Operations

The Government of Sudan welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the suspension of military operations for a period of two weeks. In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the Government stated that this step represents a positive gesture toward de-escalation and support for the diplomatic track, in a manner that contributes to achieving peace and stability in the region.

TSC President Inspects Sudanese Electricity Distribution Company

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, inspected the Sudanese Electricity Distribution Company on Tuesday. He reviewed the company’s efforts to ensure stable electricity supply for citizens. He was received by Engineer Montasir Abdelrahman Al-Sheikh, the company’s General Manager, who briefed the TSC President on the company’s initiatives to stabilize electricity supply, outlining current operations and potential sectoral progress.
Al-Burhan commended the company’s staff for their efforts in maintaining stable electricity despite the country’s challenging conditions and urged them to continue working toward creating favorable conditions for citizens’ return to Khartoum. Engineer Hani Saad Ibrahim, Director of the General Electricity Distribution Administration in Khartoum State, provided a detailed briefing on sector operations, challenges, and obstacles. He highlighted the administration’s efforts to facilitate voluntary return and noted that electricity supply stability is expected to improve soon with the availability of technical resources. He emphasized that recent achievements were made possible by the dedication and determination of the sector’s workforce.

TSC Vice-President Meets AU Delegation, Stresses Sudanese-Led Peace

Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander Malik Agar, affirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to achieving peace and stability, stressing that peace must be Sudanese-led and shaped by national expertise, with support from partners, foremost among them the African Union (AU), provided it is based on resolving African issues within the African framework rather than external impositions. This came during his Tuesday meeting with a high-level African Union delegation for Solidarity and Advocacy for Sudan, led by the Office of the AU Commission’s Special Envoy on Women, Peace, and Security, in the presence of Minister of State for Human Resources and Social Development, Dr. Suleima Izhaq.
Commander Agar emphasized that peace cannot be achieved without the participation of the Sudanese government, affirming the state’s commitment to involving Sudanese women in all political and negotiation processes and ensuring their enhanced societal role. He noted that restoring stability requires reintegrating Sudan into the African forum and highlighted the importance of partnership with the AU within the framework of national sovereignty.
The Vice President briefed the delegation on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebellion, detailing the severe harms inflicted on women, documented violations reported to local and international bodies, and the systematic destruction of Sudanese infrastructure.
Commander Agar expressed appreciation for the delegation’s visit, noting that it provides first-hand insight into conditions inside Sudan, beyond written reports and gatherings held outside the country.
The African Union delegation expressed satisfaction with the visit and the Sudanese government’s efforts to facilitate its mission, emphasizing that it aims to show continental solidarity with Sudan and support national efforts to achieve stability. The delegation also highlighted the importance of the visit in showcasing the role of Sudanese women in peacebuilding and strengthening AU partnerships to ensure women’s inclusion in political processes.

Prime Minister Issues Directives on Teachers’ Incentives and Exam Preparedness

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reviewed the full readiness of the Ministry of Education and National Upbringing for the start of the 2026 secondary school examinations, scheduled for April 13. The meeting took place on Tuesday with Minister of Education and National Upbringing Dr. Al-Tohami Al-Zain Hajar.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude and appreciation to teachers for their significant efforts in supporting and stabilizing the learning process across the country. He issued a package of immediate measures, including a one-month incentive for all teachers, payment of one month’s outstanding salary, and a commitment to improve teachers’ salaries in the near future. He also directed the maintenance of schools in Khartoum to encourage voluntary return and the activation of previous measures granting teachers a dedicated window for civil documentation services such as national ID, passports, licenses, and personal cards.
Minister Al-Tohami Al-Zain told the press that the total number of students sitting for the 2026 exams is 560,000, across 3,333 centers inside and outside Sudan. He added that Khartoum alone has 153,000 students this year, compared to 30,000 last year.
The Minister confirmed full preparedness of hostels and services to accommodate students from Darfur in safe states and noted that exam seating numbers have been distributed to the relevant schools and centers.

On April 6 Anniversary, Al-Burhan: Armed Forces a Genuine Partner of the People in the Battle of Dignity and Democratic Transition

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, paid tribute to the Sudanese people and the Armed Forces, recalling historical moments that united both sides. In his remarks on the April 6 anniversary, Al-Burhan highlighted the symbolic significance of the day, recalling the Armed Forces’ response to popular demands in 1985 and a similar stance on April 6, 2019, culminating in the Sudanese people’s firm support for the Armed Forces in the Battle of Dignity against rebellion on April 15, 2023. He described the Sudanese as brave and dignified, rejecting humiliation and never standing idle in the face of oppression. “The slogan ‘One Army, One People’ is not mere words but a reality demonstrated most clearly during the Battle of Dignity, when everyone rallied to defend the nation,” he said.
Al-Burhan emphasized that the Armed Forces respond promptly whenever the people face hardship, calling these moments “bright chapters” in military history and honorable examples of the people’s resolve. He assured that the people will prevail and will not stand idle against tyranny. He also paid tribute to former Armed Forces leaders who upheld the principle of aligning with the people’s will, noting their roles in the 1985 and 2019 uprisings and their solidarity with the people during the Battle of Dignity. He offered prayers for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives and saluted all Sudanese who defended dignity and supported the Armed Forces.
Al-Burhan reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to continuing the path of national reconstruction begun in 1985 and 2019 and stressed adherence to achieving the desired democratic transition, underscoring that the Sudanese people alone have the right to determine their future and choose their leadership by their preferred means.

TSC Vice President Addresses “Day of Gratitude” for Humanitarian Organizations

Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander Malik Agar, affirmed the Government of Sudan’s deep appreciation and gratitude for the substantial efforts and valuable contributions made by humanitarian organizations in delivering services and assistance to the Sudanese people during the war.
Speaking on Saturday in Port Sudan at the “Day of Gratitude” event—organized under the Sudanese Popular Initiative to thank international and regional voluntary organizations, as well as national initiatives, by the Peoples’ Association in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC)—Agar reiterated Sudan’s commitment to strengthening and advancing cooperation between the competent authorities and humanitarian organizations. He underscored that such cooperation aims to enable these organizations to effectively discharge their mandates in accordance with laws and international conventions that uphold Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
Agar asserted that the Berlin Conference scheduled to be held in Germany later this month runs counter to the will and aspirations of the Sudanese people, stressing that Sudanese issues and their solutions must be determined exclusively by Sudanese stakeholders. He further called for strict neutrality in humanitarian action, grounded in respect for Sudan’s sovereignty, dignity, and national particularities. He pointed out that external interference in the Sudanese war hampers the delivery of humanitarian assistance, reaffirming Sudan’s rejection of externally imposed solutions and stressing that the conflict must be resolved through a genuinely Sudanese-driven process. On the issue of Abyei, His Excellency stated that President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and President of South Sudan would work jointly to address the matter.
The event was also addressed by Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Sudan, Ambassador Mohamed Maa Al-Ainin, who reaffirmed the diplomatic community’s support for strengthening relations with Sudan. In the same vein, Chairman of the Peoples’ Association and Head of the Sudanese Popular Initiative for expressing gratitude to international voluntary organizations and national initiatives, Major General (Ret.) Omar Nimr, conveyed his appreciation to all organizations and countries that extended humanitarian assistance to Sudan during the war.
