Prime Minister Oversees Launch of Sudan’s One Health Platform Update
4444Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris on Thursday presided over the ceremony for the update of the Sudanese One Health Platform in Khartoum, alongside the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism.
The event was attended by the Ministers of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism, and Agriculture and Irrigation, as well as the Prime Minister’s Advisor Nizar Abdullah Mohamed, the Gezira Scheme Governor, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, a representative of the Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, and representatives of local, regional, and international organizations.
In remarks following the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Idris said the update of the One Health Platform represents a historic milestone that reflects the State’s commitment to health security. He described the document as embodying a high level of sustainable development principles and serving as a key pillar in the government’s strategy to advance the health sector. He expressed appreciation to all local, regional, and international partners, including United Nations agencies, for their contributions to updating the platform.
Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir affirmed his ministry’s support for the One Health Platform, praising the Ministry of Health’s media and communication efforts and stressing the commitment to raising public awareness of health risks.
Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Prof. Ismat said the One Health Platform represents an important national step reflecting the government’s attention to human and animal health. He described it as a practical framework for strengthening intersectoral coordination and reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to natural resource protection and food security. He added that the ministry remains committed to working with the Ministry of Health and all partners to ensure broad national benefit, expressing hope that the document will mark the beginning of enhanced cooperation to improve human, animal, and environmental health.
Representative of the Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Nazik Dafallah, also reaffirmed the Council’s support for the platform and its commitment to working with all partners to achieve sustainable development goals.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated a Ministry of Health exhibition showcasing awareness campaigns on epidemic diseases, expanded immunization programs, nutritional supplementation for children, and efforts to combat health-related misinformation.
The memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism aims to establish a strategic partnership to promote health awareness, combat misinformation, strengthen healthy behaviors, and increase the uptake of health services, ultimately contributing to a healthier and safer society.
