Foreign Ministry: Government Rejects Any War-Ending Proposals That Undermine Supreme National Interests
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Monday issued a statement regarding remarks made by Mr. Massad Boulos, Advisor for African and Middle Eastern Affairs at the White House, concerning proposals he presented to the country’s leadership on issues of war and peace in Sudan.
The statement said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has followed the remarks made by Mr. Massad Boulos, Advisor for African and Middle Eastern Affairs at the White House, regarding proposals he presented to the country’s leadership on issues of war and peace in Sudan. We wish to clarify that the mere presentation or submission of any proposals does not necessarily imply their acceptance or approval by the Government of Sudan.”
The Ministry added: “The Government of Sudan affirms that any proposals concerning ending the war and achieving peace must fully take into account the supreme national interests of the country, Sudan’s national security, full national sovereignty, the unity of Sudan’s territory, the unity of its institutions, and its territorial integrity. Accordingly, any proposals that fail to safeguard the country’s supreme interests will not receive the Government’s approval and, consequently, will not proceed to implementation.”
The statement further underscored that Sudan is a sovereign state that determines its positions and decisions based on its supreme national interests. It noted that while the Government of Sudan takes note of proposals and visions presented by friends and partners, it will under no circumstances accept interference in its internal affairs or attempts to impose visions or proposals that contradict the supreme national interests and fail to respect Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and the legitimate rights of its people.
