Prime Minister Directs Intensified Efforts to Ensure Success of the Summer Agricultural Season

Ensure Success of the Summer Agricultural SeasonPrime Minister Professor Kamel Idris chaired an expanded meeting in Khartoum on Thursday, attended by Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Issmat Gurashi, Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) Amina Mirghani, the Prime Minister’s Special Representative Dr. Al-Hussein Al-Khalifa Al-Siddig Al-Hafyan, and Director General of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank Salah Mohamed Abdel-Rahim.
In a press statement, the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation said the meeting reviewed the financing status of the summer agricultural season, noting that the first phase had secured financing amounting to approximately SDG 700 billion. He explained that the meeting endorsed the continuation of financing for the summer agricultural season, in line with the Prime Minister’s directives to support productive sectors through full coordination between monetary and fiscal policies.
The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation said the meeting directed support and financing for the second phase of the summer agricultural season and called for strengthened coordination between the Central Bank of Sudan and the Sudanese Agricultural Bank regarding the financing portfolio for the season.
Professor Issmat Gurashi added that the Prime Minister commended the efforts of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, reaffirmed his support for its financing vision and policies, and directed that efforts be intensified to ensure the success of the summer agricultural season.
The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation stated that the Sudanese Agricultural Bank is the institution most capable of providing agricultural financing in Sudan, expressing confidence that this year’s summer agricultural season would be significantly different and highly satisfactory for farmers.
