Prime Minister Reviews Sudan’s Participation in Tianjin International Mining Conference

Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris reviewed the outcomes of Sudan’s participation in the International Mining Conference recently held in Tianjin, China.
This came during his meeting in Khartoum on Tuesday with Minister of Minerals Noraldaim Taha, who said in a press statement that he briefed the Prime Minister on the understandings reached on the sidelines of the conference with around 70 companies from China and other countries that had expressed interest in investing in Sudan’s mining sector.
The Minister of Minerals said the Prime Minister directed that efforts to regulate traditional mining and account for the gold produced be expedited. He also directed the establishment of the Sudan Center for Mining and Earth Sciences, which will make a significant contribution to training and developing human resources, coordinating training with different countries, and enhancing the capabilities of Ministry of Minerals staff. Relevant authorities were directed to provide the necessary resources for the center to enable it to carry out its assigned role.
The Minister of Minerals added that the meeting also discussed the implementation status of the Cabinet’s recent decisions on economic reforms.
