Prime Minister Kamil Idris on Wednesday attended the celebration of the World Civil Defence Day in Khartoum, held under the theme “Environmental Risk Management for a Resilient and Sustainable Future.”
The event was attended by Interior Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Civil Defense Lt. Gen. (Police) Babiker Samra, Health Minister Dr. Haitham Mohammed, Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza, Secretary-General of the National Council for Civil Defense Lt. Gen. (Police) Dr. Othman Atta, and several military, police, security, and executive officials.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the Martyr Major (Police) Engineer Mohamed Salah Salam Hall and toured the Civil Defense exhibition, which featured modern rescue, firefighting, and ambulance equipment. He also inspected the Early Warning Center and praised the Italian government’s support for the facility. In his address, Idris hailed the continued victories of the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied forces in the “Battle of Dignity,” paying tribute to fallen martyrs. He expressed optimism that 2026 would be a year of peace for Sudan. He commended the vital role played by Civil Defense Forces in rescue and emergency operations, affirming the Government of Hope’s commitment to providing all necessary equipment, training, and incentives. “Investing in Civil Defense Forces is an investment in the safety of the homeland and the future of the Sudanese nation,” he said.

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reaffirmed the Hope Government’s commitment to supporting and developing the Gezira Scheme, describing it as the backbone of agriculture in Sudan and one of the principal pillars of the national economy.
The statement came during his meeting on Tuesday in Khartoum with the Gezira Scheme Governor Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, who said in a press briefing that he had apprised the Prime Minister of the overall performance of the project, particularly regarding the past summer season and the winter season, in addition to the requirements for the upcoming agricultural season.
The Governor noted that the meeting addressed the issue of wheat prices, underscoring the importance of holding sessions with financing institutions to determine a remunerative price that safeguards farmers’ interests and encourages expansion in production. He added that discussions also covered arrangements and preparations for the forthcoming agricultural season, as well as the essential inputs needed to support the project’s progress and enhance its productivity. Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa further revealed that the Prime Minister pledged to visit the Gezira Scheme in the near future.

Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Ms. Sara Beysolow, arrived in Sudan on Wednesday morning for a two-day official visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation. She was received at the airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim.
The visit comes at the invitation of Minister Salim and will include official talks with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of senior government officials.
The discussions aim to strengthen bilateral relations between Sudan and Liberia and to coordinate in regional and international forums, given Liberia’s position as a member of the United Nations Security Council.
The visit is also historic, marking the first time in a decade that a senior Liberian official has made an official trip to Sudan.

Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim met on Monday at the ministry headquarters with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Ms. Fabrizia Falcione, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation and support the health system in Sudan.
The Minister stated that the meeting was part of coordination on the joint 2026 plan, focusing on increasing funding to restore reproductive health services and reduce maternal mortality through midwifery programs. He added that the future vision aims at the “recovery” phase by integrating reproductive health services into primary healthcare centers and local communities.
Both sides emphasized the importance of developing the “Midwifery Diploma” program as a strategic step to train qualified personnel to improve maternal and newborn health. Ms. Falcione, who has nineteen years of experience within the UN system, reaffirmed UNFPA’s commitment to supporting the Sudanese Ministry of Health, stressing the continuation of efforts to meet urgent humanitarian needs, strengthen the health system, and support the Sudanese people in overcoming the current crisis.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain coordination to ensure vital health services reach all beneficiaries across Sudanese states.

Foreign Ministry: Closely Monitoring Middle East Developments and Their Impact on Sudanese Nationals

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement on Tuesday that it is closely monitoring the latest developments in the Middle East and their repercussions on Sudanese nationals residing in several countries affected by these developments.
The Ministry affirmed that the Embassy of the Republic of the Sudan in Tehran, along with the Embassy in Beirut and Ankara, and the Consulate General in Istanbul, are closely following the conditions of Sudanese nationals and are working to provide the necessary support and assistance, in full coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the Secretariat of Sudanese Working Abroad (SSWA).
It further stated that arrangements are underway to organize a potential evacuation of Sudanese nationals from Iran, in accordance with evolving conditions on the ground and in a manner that guarantees their safety and security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation urged all Sudanese citizens in the concerned countries to adhere strictly to the guidance issued by Sudanese diplomatic missions and to maintain communication through official channels to receive the necessary instructions.

Sudan Officially Declares Itself Free of Cholera Outbreak

The Federal Ministry of Health announced that Sudan is officially free of the cholera outbreak, affirming in a press release on Tuesday that no cases have been recorded in any state since January 14, in accordance with scientific indicators and the International Health Regulations.
Sudan had declared the outbreak in August 2024 amid extremely complex circumstances marked by war, displacement, and limited funding. However, intensive health interventions succeeded in containing the disease, an achievement regarded as a significant medical milestone given the prevailing challenges.
The national response campaign included the distribution of more than 20 million vaccine doses and the implementation of over 100 medical campaigns. In addition, 130 meetings of the Central Health Emergency Operations Room were convened to monitor and coordinate the response.
The Ministry commended the efforts of the “White Army” — Sudan’s medical personnel — along with partners whose contributions were instrumental in achieving this milestone. It cautioned, however, that health risks persist, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and preparedness to safeguard public safety.

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan held phone call with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, expressing concern and reaffirming Sudan’s support following Iranian attacks on Kuwaiti territory.
Al Burhan reaffirmed Sudan’s solidarity—government and people—with Kuwait in confronting the attack, which threatens the security and stability of the Kuwaiti people. He wished Kuwait lasting peace, security, and stability, underscoring its legitimate right to defend its sovereignty.
In response, the Kuwaiti Crown Prince expressed gratitude for Sudan’s principled stance and praised the distinguished ties between Kuwait and Sudan.

Kamil Idris2Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris chaired on Monday a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the National Fund for Student Welfare, attended by Minister of Federal Governance and Rural Development Mohamed Kortikaila Saleh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Ahmed Modawi Musa, Minister of Industry and Trade Ms. Mahasin Yagoub, Minister of Education and National Orientation Dr. Al-Tohami Al-Zein Hagar, and Secretary-General of the National Fund for Student Welfare Dr. Ahmed Hamza Al-Amin.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the need to develop programs and strategies in coordination between the Fund and relevant entities to create productive projects targeting students, aiming to improve their financial conditions and achieve the desired academic stability.
Dr. Kamil Idris emphasized the importance of benefiting from successful regional and international experiences in productive projects and programs, activating strategic partnerships with the private sector to support student projects, and upholding the principles of transparency and continuous evaluation to enhance the Fund’s performance and enable it to fulfill its mission optimally.
For his part, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Ahmed Modawi Musa called for expanding student welfare services in line with preparing the educational environment, highlighting the importance of utilizing student capacities in Fund-affiliated productive projects to ensure resources sustainability.
The meeting also reviewed the National Fund for Student Welfare’s efforts over the past period and discussed future plans aimed at enhancing student care and services in coordination with all relevant state institutions.

Sudan Warns Ethiopia over Drone Incursions and Attacks on Targets inside Sudan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a statement today warning Ethiopian authorities against the entry of drones into Sudan from Ethiopian territory, which have been observed engaging targets inside Sudan. The ministry reaffirmed Sudan’s right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement said, “The Government of Sudan has been closely monitoring, throughout February and the beginning of March, the entry of drones from Ethiopian territory that have been engaging targets inside Sudan. This hostile behavior is condemned and unacceptable, representing a blatant violation of Sudanese sovereignty and a direct aggression against the Sudanese state.”
The ministry emphasized, “The Government of Sudan warns Ethiopian authorities of the consequences of such hostile actions and reaffirms its right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity using all means necessary to repel such attacks.”

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan held a telephone call today with Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The TSC President inquired about the situation in the Kingdom following the blatant Iranian attack on its territory.
Al-Burhan affirmed Sudan’s support and its standing alongside the Kingdom and its brotherly people in the face of Iranian attacks targeting its security and stability. He reiterated the Sudanese Government’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting Iranian aggression, underscoring the Kingdom’s full right to defend the security and stability of its people.
For his part, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his appreciation for Sudan’s supportive positions toward the Kingdom and its people, commending the advanced level reached in Sudanese–Saudi relations.

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan held a telephone call today with Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During the call, the TSC President inquired about the situation in Qatar in light of the blatant Iranian attacks against the country.
Al-Burhan announced Sudan’s government and people’s full solidarity with the sisterly State of Qatar in the face of Iranian aggression. He reaffirmed the Sudanese Government’s unwavering support for Qatar in confronting this heinous assault.
The TSC President further affirmed Qatar’s legitimate right to defend its security, its people, and its sovereignty over its territory. He also expressed his wishes for continued security, peace, and stability for the Qatari people.
