The Republic of Sudan
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Office of the Spokesperson and Media Directorate
Press Statement
The Janjaweed terrorist militia, under the supervision of its regional sponsors, continues to carry out its evil design to create famine in Sudan, by deliberately and systematically obstructing farming, terrorizing farmers, destroying the infrastructure of the agricultural sector, and plundering agricultural machinery, seeds, and crops of the winter and summer seasons in a number of food producing regions of the country . The ultimate goal of the design is to depopulate these regions of their indigenous communities and replace them with the Militia members and its foreign mercenaries. As a result of this terrorist campaign, farming was prevented in parts of the Al-Gazira Scheme for the first time in a hundred years, besides jeopardizing the agricultural season in the states of Sennar, Blue Nile and the Rahad Scheme.
The Dagalo terrorist militia and its sponsoring countries bear the main responsibility for creating and planning this crisis. The Government of Sudan, therefore, reminds the international and regional community of this reality, and the imperative of checking those behind this design that aimed at starving and impoverishing the people of Sudan.
